I recently got back in touch my alot of my old gaming friends… Any of you guys wanna chat here feel free!

Well the number of new baby fish has increased to 12, the platys just can’t seem to stop breeding! Now I know some of you might have objections to this but I have chosen to add 2 rainbow sharks to the mix to try and keep the number of fry to a minimum - this seems to be working well as there were only 2 new babies last week.

 We had a minor scare last month when all of my guppies started drooping then dieing. After much research I found that their diet was incomplete and they were suffering from a vitamin deficiency - who’d have thought? S after mixing up their diet a little I’ve been able to save the last 4 guppies and 5 of the platys. The tank looks a bit bare now with only 9 livebearers, 2 bristlenose catfish and 2 rainbow sharks in there, but the plants are doing well and as the babies grow the tank will once again be swimming with life!

Well in spite of my efforts to maintain an exclusively male population it seems there’s a rogue platy  (or two) in there… today I discovered 2 baby platys (fry) swimming around near the driftwood camouflaging nicely, in fact I’d have mistaken them for food if they weren’t moving of their own volition, that’s how small they are!

 If they don’t get eaten they’ll make nice additions to the tank - another talking point for visitors.

Well it’s been 2 weeks since my last water change and the fish seem to be doing well… time for more fish!

My mother also managed to obtain some water weed to put in the tank - this stuff grows profusely and should provide a wonderfull habitat for my little pets. One day soon I hope to be able to take some photos.

Made another trip to the pet shop today, brought home 4 more guppies, 3 platies and 4 mystery fish… The shop owner said they were probably baby guppies but I am unsure since they don’t look like guppies, I’ll try and get a photo on the forum for confirmation.

Also bought some different food to try and vary their diet, it’s miniature pellets that mostly float or stay suspended in the water, there seems to be a good mix of food types in there too so maybe Red will be a little happier with his food choice

Well I just got back from a 2 week holiday to find that 2 guppies didn’t survive the babysitting.  I had warned my daughter not to overfeed the fish, but it seems that she may have done the opposite - the survivors were looking a little thin, so a quick breakfast for them - followed by an afternoon snack - and they seemed much brighter. I did a large water change (75%) since it had been a while since the last one, but I forgot to test the water beforehand, so I’m doing one noe even though I expect they’ll show pretty low results with fresh water in the tank.

 Next weekend I think I’ll duck down the fish shop and buy some more fish to increase the stock since I won’t be going on holidays again for another year.
